No matter your age, occupation, or degree of experience, Dr. Virginia Freyermuth has come to believe through a lifetime of teaching that there is an inner artist in everyone. You may recall a time in your childhood when you loved to play, invent, dream, draw and make things—when you saw with fresh eyes and your imagination was lively and joyful. Human beings are innately creative; it is our birthright. It is not just for a ‘talented’ few.art distance learning

But our artistic lives can retreat or become idle due to lack of time or direction, discouragement, neglect, fear, or uncertainty. If the artist in you is hoping to be more fully realized, and if you feel it would be valuable to seek your way towards this vision in the compassionate company of a fellow creative traveler, this is your opportunity to take the first steps. Or if you are a more seasoned artist who is looking to deepen your thinking and explore your potential, this online art instruction is an opportunity to begin meaningful dialogue with a fellow artist. Dr. Freyermuth believes that our creative capacities can be empowering, providing individuals and communites with a sense of vision and hope for today and the future.

As a teacher who has worked with hundreds of students, Dr. Freyermuth is well-aware of the challenges of time, travel and personal constraints. She is pleased to introduce Art Where You Are™, creative and artistic guidance in an interactive distance learning format. Today's technologies make it possible to access learning no matter where you live, but Art Where You Are™ is unique because it tailors instruction to YOU personally rather than a large-group online class format. It is a responsive experience of mutual exchange, and your work is accomplished according to your own schedule and at your own rate of speed.

Three programs are offered:
Creative Discovery for adult beginners
Creative Mentor for those with prior artistic experience
High School Studio for grade 9-12 students

This program of study offers individualized guidance from Virginia K. Freyermuth, a Ph.D. and Master of Fine Arts professional. Unlike other distance learning programs, this is a fluid, flexible course of study responsive to your individual needs and creative choices and goals. It is guided by your own interests and constructed over time in collaboration with the teacher.

Your work is accomplished according to your own schedule, at your own rate of speed. The amount of work you do is up to you. You will receive regular feedback and direction on your written reflections and creative work. There are no deadlines for your creative work except your own, but knowing that there is someone deeply interested in what you have to say and express can be a powerful catalyst to create. Participants need access to an online computer and E-mail. Instruction is conducted in English.
